I went to Peoria Notre Dame High School in Peoria, IL. I played in the football team and track and field. I graduated from Peoria Notre Dame in 2013. I started my freshman and sophomore years of college in Illinois Central College in East Peoria, IL. I received my Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2015. I continued my junior and senior years of college at Western Illinois University. I volunteered my time as an Emergency Medical Technician for Western Emergency Medical Services. I graduated from WIU in 2017 with my Bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration.
I am currently employed as a Police Officer for the city of Burlington, Iowa. From all the lessons I learned from attending NTLP what I utilize every day is the mindset of going after what I think is best for myself and everyone else. I learned through my work experience that not only is it necessary to take care of other’s needs, but especially your needs as well. If you do not take care of yourself then you would only become more of a barrier than the hand that would help you climb over your obstacles. NTLP helped me bloom as an individual. I place myself in the shoes of others. I try to understand what they are thinking and I also try to listen to their life experience to further expand my knowledge as well.
The one thing I would never forget from NTLP is the family environment I feel and experience every time I attend camp. The people I volunteer with at NTLP come from all walks of life. I really love the diversity of the group when we all come together to teach teens of the right path to leadership and success.
If you want to accomplish something in life, get after it! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes because from those mistakes you will grow to be a better and wiser individual.
